RIDDING AMERICA OFF THE OSAMA BIN LADEN WITHIN
“Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour; so doth a littte folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour” – Ecclesiastes 10:1
Gun Control: Acting from the known to unknown is wisdom
Between September 11 2001 when the Al-Qaeda group under the leadership of Osama bin Laden opened fire on Americans on their own land, terrible incidents of bloodbath from within have been on the increase through the use of guns and by taking liberty for nonsense. Those incidents of killing innocent Americans by Americans themselves have almost turned America into a laughing stock in relation to the celebrated killing of Osama bin Laden on May 2, 2011 in respect of the 9/11 incident.
By all standard and looking at it from every judgmental angle, the most recent shooting of the elementary school heroes at New Town Connecticut on December 14, 2012, far outweighs the 9/11 in terms of horror and losses to the nation in particular and the world at large. I believe America does not, and Americans do not deserve terrorism both from within and without. Here comes the talks on mental health and gun control. In my own opinion as a mental health practitioner, and if the best place to begin a thing is the beginning, the first step to curbing gun violence in America is the idea of gun control, for it makes more sense to control the “unseen” from the “seen” as a good teacher goes from the known to unknown. Opposing the proposal for gun control in spite of the losses so far recorded is a pointer to the number of people in America suffering from one form or the other of mental disorders. As a physician is not immune against sicknesses, and neither is a mental health practitioner immune against mental disorders, gun control is just one of the best ways of making people to become their brother’s keepers.
Osama bin Laden: Once beaten, twice shy
On a final note, America needs God more than ever before by making the truth out of a slogan; “IN GOD WE TRUST”. For the wisdom of God says in Isaiah 26:3 ; “Thou will keep him in perfect peace whose heart is stayed on thee, because he trusts in thee”. And as you know that efforts put in place notwithstanding, we need God for them to fructify : “Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it, except the Lord keep the city, the watchmen wake but in vain” – Psalm 127: 1
Until you are able to conquer yourself. conquering the world is day-dreaming, and nothing comes to sleepers but dreams. Wake up and let us build America with God.
